Chemical Peel FAQ:

Are chemical peels safe?

PCA peels are safe for all skin types and conditions. PCA Certified Professional are trained to specially identify what treatment combination is safe for each individual. These treatments are customized and tailored to each individual need, to achieve desired results.

How do I know what peel or formulation is best for me?

Leave that up to you PCA Skin Certified Professional that has a professional license and intensive training/education with PCA. Always feel freeto ask to see their license.

What does it mean to “peel”?

Peeling = exfoliation, which = skin cell turnover! Typically, 2-3 days afteryour treatment, your skin may begin to peel or flake, which last approximately 2-4 days. Your skin begins to shed dead or damaged surface cells, which then reveals fresh, healthy skin that GLOWS!

If my skin does not peel, did the treatment work?

YES! Not everyone will experience visible peeling. There are many variables that play into how your skin is going to react, such as skin type, skin resilience, at home product use, time of year, type of peel used, etc. Some may experience light flaking, “sheeting” (when large portions of the skin peels off at once) or exfoliation that is not visible to the eye. If you do not peel you are still achieving exfoliation and correction, just at a cellular level. You may also experience different levels of peeling at each treatment.

Can I get a peel in the summer or when I’m exposed to the sun?

Yes, but you have to use a broad-spectrum SPF daily. Reapplying is also key. Talk to your esthetician for SPF recommendations.

Does a peel hurt or cause discomfort?

This depends on the treatment and condition of your skin. Most PCA peels are gentle and cause minimal to mild stinging sensations. A fan is used to help cool the skin if needed. You will also be asked multiple times how tingly your skin is after the application of each product and layer. This information will assist your esthetician in determining how many layers can be applied.

How often do I need a peel?

This will be discussed and determined during your consultation and skin analysis. Typically, if you are seeking correction, peels are done every 2-4 weeks. Maintenance, can often be achieved with peels every 8-12 weeks.

Can I wear makeup after my peel?

Yes, you can! You will leave with a dewy healthy glow and can go on with your day. There are recommended steps to achieve and ensure maximum results. These tips are on the skin care forms that you will download and this will be further discussed at your consult and treatment.
